Hi, I’m LeAnna and I’ve spent most of my life in and around newspapers, starting at fifteen at a small-town newspaper in a suburb of San Antonio, Texas, then earning my journalism degree at Indiana University before returning to San Antonio. I have been a reporter, photographer, community editor, sports copy editor, assistant sports editor, digital producer and, finally, an editorial systems specialist in information technology.
I’ve always loved words and images and have tried to put my talents in those areas to use for others — whether in my job, or taking photographs at youth sporting events for parents, or taking scene-setting photos to add to a church directory.
Fiction was never my thing, but I tried my hand at it — sort of — many years ago. As an editor, though, the first attempt was always lacking to me. I didn’t know what it needed, really, until I read a novel by a friend at our church, Rosanne Gray (check out her books here). Then I realized there was no heart and no purpose in my pages. Once I started thinking about how God had steered my life, it seemed to me I needed to write in a way that had Christ’s love at its core.
A story began to grow in me and I finally put it on “paper” — or the equivalent these days: Google Docs. It’s not the tale I wrote before, but I am pretty happy with the saga of Enzo and Teri. And I think I see a way to take that previous attempt and bring it to life now.
The time has come, though, to take that leap of faith to bring it to readers. I have been inspired by Rosanne and also a high school friend, Denise Stallins (catch up with her here), to not abandon my writing in the computer’s memory chips.
My first effort, Come Fly With Me, is planned for a 2026 release. It’s a story close to my hearst — about love, faith, and finding your way after life doesn’t go as planned. I hope you enjoy it, as it is the first in what I hope will be an extensive series, full of characters with human flaws, but with an ability to surrender to His mercy in order to find true peace and fulfillment in their lives.
When I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me spending time with family (especially my husband and child – who’s an adult now, but always my baby), planning a fun trip somewhere, or geeking out about how stories get made. I still live in Texas and expect to keep dreaming up more stories, especially after I retire from that career in newspapers in the next couple of years.
I am grateful for the chance to share my writing with you.
